Political Science Salaries in Utah

Although the average Utah state legislator's salary might seem low as noted below, PayScale.com reports that most state representatives and state senators in Utah actually earn much more than this average. At least five of Utah's state legislators earned over 100 percent more than what their expected pay would be based on their education. For example, a state representative with a bachelor's degree earned in 1989 would be expected to earn $77,000 annually. However, this representative's actual income for 2010 was $174,000, or 226 percent over his expected pay rate. Exaggerated salaries like this can be seen at least five times among Utah's politicians.
